Why we started

Florida Light Installation started the way most of these businesses do: one truck, one ladder, and a neighborhood full of people who wanted the look but had no interest in spending a Saturday on a roof in eighty-degree heat.

What kept it going was the part nobody else wanted to do. Taking the lights back down in January. Coming back out when a run went dark. Storing the custom-cut strands so the customer's garage stayed a garage. Those are unglamorous, unprofitable-looking services, and they are the reason our customers are still our customers.

What we actually are

A Florida holiday lighting contractor. We are licensed and insured for liability and workers' compensation, we carry lifts for commercial work, and our crews are our employees rather than rotating subcontractors. We work residential homes, storefronts, HOA community entrances and multi-property commercial accounts, from Hudson and Land O' Lakes in the north down through Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Punta Gorda to Fort Myers and Bonita Springs — and across the state through Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade.

How we work

Every job starts with a free on-site consult — we walk the property with you, talk through what you are picturing, and mark the runs. You get a fixed written quote covering the lights, the install and in-season service, with any optional extras listed separately. There is no hourly billing and no mid-job change order because we "found more footage."

On install day a uniformed crew shows up in the window we promised. Most single-family homes are finished in one day. Before we leave, we come back at dusk and test every run with you standing there.

The Florida part

Palms are not pines. A frond wrap that looks great in November comes apart by New Year's if it is done the way you would do a spruce. Coastal salt air eats cheap connectors. Wind off the water will lift a roofline run that was clipped instead of fastened. And a January takedown here happens in seventy-degree weather, which is genuinely one of the nicer parts of the job.

We build for all of that. Commercial-grade product, wind-rated fastening, marine-appropriate connectors on waterfront properties, and species-specific technique on tree work.
